What: P.C. Chandra Goldlites Diva association with t2.

When: December 19 and 20.

Where: Gokhale Memorial Girls’ College on 19th and Rani Birla Girls’ College on 20th.

The mood: Both colleges scored high on the energy quotient as students cheered on the participants. On both days, the programme opened with an introduction by 20 shortlisted participants, from which 10 were chosen by the guest judges — June (at Gokhale) and Tanusree (at Rani Birla).

An ethnic and jewellery round followed with finalists getting to walk the ramp wearing P.C. Chandra jewellery. They were then interviewed by the judges. Based on their performance, five finalists were chosen at Gokhale, and six at Rani Birla (on the special request of Tanusree).

The finalists then had to answer a common question in one minute. The second runner-up, first runner-up and the winner walked away with privilege coupons worth Rs 1,000, Rs 2,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively.

The young crowd laughed, applauded and egged on the participants in unison all through the event and some of them even bagged goodies by answering fun questions!

Winners speak: From Gokhale Memorial Girls’ College, first-year psychology student Arpita Dhar emerged on top. Neha Basak and Sayani Mitra were the second runner-up and first runner-up.

“All the participants were amazing and to be honest I did not expect to win! This is the first time I participated in anything remotely close to a beauty pageant and I am thrilled. In the inter-college round I will try to retain my individuality and give my best,” said Arpita.

At Rani Birla Girls’ College, it was Kaushani Das who secured the first place. Konkonika Chakraborty and Zehra Humayun were crowned second runner-up and first runner-up.

“I am spellbound! I was so scared initially but I feel honoured to be declared the winner. I wanted to be in the top three,” confessed Kaushani, raring to go for the inter-college level of the event.

Judges speak: “I started my career as a model and I felt very nostalgic while judging the event. The participants were very positive and energetic. Somewhere, I miss the life I led as a model and today I could really relate to this event,” said Tanusree.

“It was less of a contest and more of a nice interactive session with the contestants. All of them were oozing confidence even though some of them were participating in a contest like this for the first time. Such contests will definitely help build their confidence level,” said June.

Organiser speak: “We have introduced P.C. Chandra Goldlites collection for young people and so we thought of getting a new young face for this collection. The contest will also help make the college students confident,” said Prasenjit Chandra, director, P.C. Chandra Jewellers.
