Move over Lobster Bisque and Thermidor and say hello to lesser-known lobster dishes like Thailand’s Gung Mangkorn Phad Kimao and Pieu Wan Gung Mangkorn.

If your eye just skipped over those two tongue-twisters, here’s an easy decode. Gung mangkorn means lobster, phad kimao means stir-fried. Pieu wan means thick sweet and sour curry. And you can have it all at Baan Thai, The Oberoi Grand, during its ongoing lobster festival.

“The freshest local spiny lobsters are caught daily and served at Baan Thai. The climatic condition and temperature of the sea make this the perfect season to harvest the best lobster,” said Klae Somsuay, speciality chef of the restaurant at the Chowringhee star address.

“Lobster is one of the most expensive items and really delicious. When you place it on the table, it makes people go wow! It provides a sense of luxury and opulence to the dining experience,” added Somsuay.
Now we’re not surprised to learn that lobsters mate for life!
