Janhvi Kapoor’s story to tell
Janhvi Kapoor and Vijay Varma will be playing the leads in Zoya Akhtar’s short in Netflix’s Ghost Stories.
The anthology film is a follow-up to the streamer’s 2018 Lust Stories. Zoya, Karan Johar, Dibakar Banerjee and Anurag Kashyap are coming back to direct the four shorts.
Zoya’s short marks her reunion with Vijay, who worked with her this year in Gully Boy. But this is the first time Janhvi, who made her Bollywood debut with Dhadak, is working with Zoya.
In Janhvi’s other news, the latest buzz in tinseltown is the actress has said no to playing the lead in the remake of mom Sridevi’s 1989 film ChaalBaaz.
There has been speculation for some time that Boney Kapoor is remaking the Pankaj Parashar-directed film, loosely based on Hema Malini’s 1973 film Seeta aur Geeta. There were reports that Deepika Padukone was offered the lead earlier.
Janhvi — who has Roohiafza among her upcoming projects — had likely been offered her late mother’s part as well, but sources said she refused and even said the film should not be remade.
Boney, it’s also heard, has registered about 20 of Sridevi’s old film titles, including ChaalBaaz, Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja, Janbaaz and Mr. India.
Are all of them being remade? Only time will tell.
