Country star Taylor Swift is heartbroken after her brief romance with actor Jake Gyllenhaal ended with a ‘ring’.

Yes, the Love Story hitmaker, who dated Gyllenhaal for three months, was reportedly dumped by the 30-year-old actor over telephone!

“She was not her usual bubbly, over-animated self. She didn’t eat anything, seemed very sad and definitely wasn’t having a good time,” said a source who saw the singer at the People’s Choice Awards this month.

Another friend added that the phone call left the 21-year-old singer devastated. “Taylor is really upset and hurt. She doesn’t know what she did for him to just put a stop to it. She feels really burned by him.”

Reports have claimed that the nine-year age gap left the Brokeback Mountain star uncomfortable. “Jake reached out to her and started all of this, but now he’s not acting as interested. He said he wasn’t feeling it anymore and was uncomfortable with all the attention they got,” added the source.

Adding insult to injury, Gyllenhaal turned up with a new date at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday. The lady on his arm? Ex-girlfriend and singer Jenny Lewis. Gyllenhaal — who has previously romanced actresses Kirsten Dunst and Reese Witherspoon — dated Lewis back in 2001 and have remained friends since.

Soccer star David Beckham has provided a point-by-point demolition of claims that he slept with a £3,000-a-night prostitute.

Beckham’s primary alibi? He was taking it lying down — thanks to a late-night massage — in his hotel room at the time of the alleged incident!

The former England football captain — who is all set to become a father for the fourth time — has submitted a five-page court statement dismissing claims by 26-year-old Bosnia-born Irma Nici that he paid her and a friend in cash for sex in August 2007.

“As is my custom when I arrive at a hotel on a road trip before a match, a massage therapist came to my hotel room within a few hours after I checked in to give me a massage. I recall that the therapist did not leave my hotel room until the very early morning. My security team was with me before, during and after the massage. After the therapist left, I went to sleep.”

Beckham also dismissed Nici’s claims that they slept together at Claridge’s in London four weeks later.

Declaring that Nici’s allegations had caused him “severe emotional distress, including extended humiliation, embarrassment, anger and worry”, Beckham is now suing the German publishing company that printed Nici’s claims last September.

The company has, however, stuck to its guns, alleging that Becks has had numerous affairs. Nici is counter-suing the star for a million dollars, saying he has caused her “emotional and physical pain and distress”.
