Gentleman pals Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez are no longer great friends, according to the grapevine.

The buzz is that the actors — who worked together in Brothers and A Gentleman — got really close during the making of the second film. Too well for Sid’s rumoured girlfriend Alia Bhatt’s discomfort.

The Student of the Year co-stars even broke up with Jacqueline. Unfortunately, A Gentleman flopped and that has made Sidharth so anxious that he has been turning down roles where the Sri Lankan beauty is the female lead.

Two filmmakers had approached the stars on seeing their chemistry but Sid is wary of rumours linking him to the actress. Both stars have, however, denied being romantically involved with each other.

To make matters worse, at the press call of Ittefaq, co-producer Karan Johar asked Sidharth if he could confirm his relationship status.

Sidharth, like an obedient student, said he was single. Karan was quick to say that meant he was not single before — clearly a hint at the Sid-Alia relationship.
