A life-size snakes and ladders board was everyone’s favourite spot at Amiphoria, the annual fest of Amity University, powered by t2. From slow cycling and coding to cooking and street plays, the three-day fest that began on the New Town campus on March 22 had something for everyone.
Some sang along, some screamed their lungs out and some danced till their feet ached. The crowd had a blast cheering Bolly singer Nakash Aziz. There were also a few enthusiastic ones who climbed their friends’ shoulders for a better view.
The Selfie le le re man took the stage on the second day of Amiphoria. Nakash Aziz belted out hits like Nadaan parindey, Badtameez dil and some of his own like Tukur tukur and The breakup song. t2 met him for a chat before the show.
On Calcutta...
I love coming here. Calcutta has a very strong connect with music. A lot of people I’ve worked with are from here. I always wanted to come here to work and managed to do that later in my career.
Your journey...
My journey began with stage shows when I was in school and then went on to college competitions. From there, I moved on to reality shows. Some of these were shows where I failed miserably but that only taught me to come back stronger.
Songs close to your heart...
It would be Fatafati, a duet with Arijit (Singh) for Barfi!. We had a lot of fun recording the song. Saree ke fall sa is also special because after that I managed to buy my own BMW (laughs).
A track you’re hooked to...
I am listening to the soundtrack of Fifty Shades Darker and also the album Divide by Ed Sheeran.
On college fests...
When the announcer takes my name and everyone starts cheering, it makes me feel so blessed and so special. It is great performing in colleges!
Ultimate Bassement, a band from The Bhawanipur Education Society College, got the audience grooving to their hard rock rendition of Ek chatur naar in the Western band finals at Amiphoria.
