Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur’s romance hits a roadblock despite their best efforts in the trailer of Parsuram Petla’s upcoming Telugu film Family Star.

Dropped by the makers on Thursday, the two-minute-26-second-long trailer shows Vijay as a middle-class man who loves doing household chores and spending time with his loving grandmother. Soon, Mrunal’s Indu enters his life and they spend time together. However, their love does not brew for long as Mrunal starts to believe that she is the biggest problem in Vijay’s otherwise peaceful life.

The situation worsens when Vijay becomes cash-strapped in his efforts to balance both family and work. It is not long before he has to encounter goons who threaten the safety of his family. The cause of their attack is related to Mrunal’s character, although not much is revealed about it. Following fight scenes showing Vijay bashing villains and protecting his loved ones, the trailer ends with him getting slapped by Mrunal.

As mentioned by one of the characters in the trailer, when it comes to his relationship with Mrunal, Vijay is the “unluckiest person” in the world.

Sharing the trailer on Instagram, Vijay wrote, “This summer. In just one week -go celebrate, laugh, cheer, relive and have a great time in the theaters 😄.”

“The highs and lows of family relationships in an Indian middle-class family. The life of Govardhan, who wants to achieve greatness in life but has to navigate through a myriad of relationship/trust/ego issues,” reads the official synopsis of the film on IMDb.

Parasuram Petla, who had previously directed Vijay in Geetha Govindham, has written and helmed Family Star. While Gopi Sundar has worked on the music for the film, Raju -Shirish have produced it. Also featuring the song Madhuramu Kadha sung by Shreya Ghoshal, Family Star is slated to release in theatres on April 5.
