There are a lot of things that Raima Sen blurts out during a shoot or a chat that will make you laugh out loud till your stomach hurts and, almost, none of it is printable! What stays with you is her candour and warmth. Raima stepped into Jimmy Choo at Quest mall on a Monday afternoon, checked out the first store from the British label in Calcutta, tried out different styles and, of course, made us go ROFL!

So, you are a Jimmy Choo fan?
Yeah, I have always bought Jimmy Choo. My sister (Riya Sen) introduced me to Jimmy Choo, funnily enough… may be four years back. She is a Jimmy Choo fan. So, we used to buy a lot of Jimmy Choos when we used to travel to London and then it opened in Bombay in Palladium (mall) and now it’s finally here in Quest. They are very comfortable and I never get shoe-bites. They have nice, casual styles. I have wedges and a few heels. I team them up with my dresses and jeans.
Does Riya have more Jimmy Choos than you?
(Smiles) She has plenty more… she has way more clothes and shoes than me in general!

What styles are you sporting right now?
I wear a lot of strappy shoes because, normally, pumps don’t fit me. I have too many shoes to count. Like I am stuffed with shoes! More than 500-600! We’ve kept half on shoe shelves, half in boxes and half in cartons! What else to do?! I have bought them all, but I just keep wearing the same old shoe. I am too lazy! Half I haven’t worn… I have bought moccasins, sneakers… I am in such a hurry all the time that I am wearing the same shoes and rushing.
What’s your comfort shoe then?
Wedges. Slip on and go!
Are you a heels person?
I like comfortable heels. I like pencil heels, but not too high. I have really high heels, but they are all lying in the cupboard. I have also been gifted very high heels. For me, now, comfort is important than looking great in heels.
Is Riya a heels person?
She can balance better in heels. I cannot!
Whose shoe closet do you envy?
My sister’s! Funnily enough, we are almost the same size. I am just half an inch more than her. So, when she is out of town, I am always putting on her shoes and going out. But she always knows! She’ll come back and say: ‘You must have stretched my shoe because it is not fitting me anymore!’
Besides shoes, what else are you crushing on?
I have brought some lovely dresses, right up till the knee. I like those fitted pencil dresses. It’s a classy, sophisticated, nice look. As far as colours go, I am stuck on the basic white, beige and black.
Do you watch TV at all?
I am watching Game of Thrones Season 2. I am also watching House of Cards and Bates Motel, which leads up to the film Psycho. That TV show is great.
Any film you recently liked?
I’ve got Netflix and I have been watching five-six movies a day. At the theatres, I watched Udta Punjab. I loved Alia (Bhatt) in it. I actually liked Shahid Kapoor very much. I saw Waiting and Phobia. Radhika (Apte) was brilliant in Phobia.... And I am watching Sadhguru’s (the founder of Isha Foundation) videos a lot. He is too cool. I am loving it! When I go home at night, for two-three hours I am browsing through Sadhguru’s videos and then I get to bed. Then I get better sleep, for sure.
And, are you on a diet?
After being in America (in Miami for the shoot of Suman Ghosh’s Mi Amor) for one month and eating at the best restaurants from morning till night… one bad thing is Coca-Cola… I don’t have it in India… I don’t know why I had it there! I just let go! Param (Parambrata Chattopadhyay) was in the gym every day, but I was like, I am going shopping. Even if I was free for an hour, I rushed for shopping. I was like ‘I am in Miami! I am not going to the gym!’ So, I let go completely, not realising the consequences when I reach India. I am not dieting because I have a very good cook at home. But I am exercising and swimming. Life is good.
