The temperature inside Snow Park? 6°C. Now you can literally beat the heat at this 9,000sq ft chill zone that has opened doors on the rooftop of Axis Mall in Rajarhat. “We wanted to bring a new experience to Calcutta,” said Sunil Agrawal of Entertainment Unlimited, a company that opened a similar snow zone in a Durgapur mall four months ago.
Why choose New Town? “We needed a large area and none of the other malls could offer it to us. Plus, there is ample parking space in Axis Mall,” added Agrawal, who has an additional 5,000sq ft of space on the rooftop, which he plans to turn into a cafeteria and more. With the nearby Eco Park becoming a hot spot for families and the Park Circus flyover cutting down on travel time, footfall to this part of town has considerably increased on weekends.
At Snow Park, an imported compressor and proper insulation techniques ensure that things stay cool. On May 1, the park saw around 1,200 people check in. And with summer vacations around the corner, it seems like a great place to keep the children occupied and the parents chilled!
Worried about safety measures? “We have around 16 crew members inside at all times. Plus, a first-aid kit, a nurse for immediate care and a doctor on call,” assured Agrawal.
Open from 10.30am, Snow Park has around 10 one-hour sessions a day. After 10pm, the management plans to let it out for private parties and film shooting. Let the brrrrr party begin!
