A rich and unforgettable experience,” is how Rannvijay describes London Dreams. After a forgettable debut in Toss two months ago, the MTV VJ-turned-actor is hoping that the Salman Khan-Ajay Devgn biggie proves to be his big ticket to Bollywood. “We had a trial screening of London Dreams on Sunday and the response to the film was tremendous. I am sure London Dreams will prove to be a big, big film in my career,” says an excited Rannvijay.
The 25-year-old plays Zoheb, a London-based musician. “(Newcomer) Aditya Roy Kapoor (Wasim in the film) and I play in a band called London Dreams,” says Rannvijay who had a great time shooting with Ajay, Salman and Asin on the London sets. “It was like a major picnic everyday. Both Ajay and Salman are major pranksters and they would always be up to something or the other. But I got along best with Asin because she is closer to my age. She is a wonderful girl, very warm and friendly,” smiles the Roadies rage.
Rannvijay is also all praise for London Dreams director Vipul Shah. “I haven’t ever come across a filmmaker who is better prepared than Vipul. He is so sure of what he is doing that the confidence automatically percolates down to the cast and crew,” says the MTV man who will be seen in yet another Vipul Shah film, Action Replay, starring Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, due for release in early 2010.
Promoted as a “musical Sholay”, the promos of London Dreams have a Rock On!! hangover, but Rannvijay thinks otherwise. “London Dreams is essentially a story about the strong bond between two friends with music serving as the backdrop. Rock On!! was a fabulous film but Vipul will not be stupid enough to model London Dreams on Rock On!!. The only common link between the two films is Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy’s music,” says Rannvijay whose favourite tracks in the film are Khanabadosh and Barso re.
With the big Friday here, Rannvijay admits to being nervous, but not jittery. “We know that we have a good product in hand and I am confident that the audience will love the film. And having Ajay Devgn and Salman Khan in the film obviously takes the pressure off us completely,” laughs Rannvijay.
On the anvil are Ekanth with Mahesh Manjrekar and Sharafat Gayi Tel Lene in which he shares screen space with Zayed Khan. So when is that solo film happening for Rannvijay? “I don’t think I can carry off a film solely on my shoulders. At least not yet,” signs off the VJ, who will return to the small screen with the seventh edition of Roadies in November.
