New Delhi, Aug. 20: The national oil companies are worried over the continuing imports of white kerosene as they suspect that the fuel is being diverted to adulterate diesel.
BPCL chairman S. Behuria said the government should increase the customs duty on the import of white kerosene to discourage imports.
He said BPCL's “pure for sure” filling stations were proving to be great hit and as much as 50 per cent of the company's total sales of petrol and diesel had been covered by the scheme. Most of these pumps were company owned and company operated but efforts were on to spread their coverage.
