Mumbai, Aug. 7: Tata BlueScope Steel, the 50:50 joint venture between Tata Steel and BlueScope Steel of Australia, today inaugurated its first roll-forming and pre-engineered building facility near the IT Park at Hinjewadi in Pune.

The company also unveiled its new corporate identity, which is expected to lead brand development in the Indian construction market.

The new facility will manufacture, design and supply a range of Butler pre-engineered buildings and Lysaght steel building solutions.

This joint venture, details of which was announced in November last year, will deliver steel-based building solutions to the construction industry and will invest more than Rs 1,200 crore on manufacturing locations in the country and setting up a network of sales offices across Saarc.

It will manufacture and supply flat steel products such as Zincalume and Colorbond-coated steels and also a range of metal building solutions.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony today, B. Muthuraman, managing director of Tata Steel said, “This facility reaffirms our commitment that Tata BlueScope Steel will create value in the steel business. The building industry is experiencing rapid growth and it is a great opportunity to showcase our range of products and solutions to the construction industry. In doing so, it boosts the consumption of steel in this region.”

Kathryn Fagg, chairman of Tata BlueScope Steel and BlueScope Steel’s president in Asia, added that the state-of-the-art manufacturing will offer premium quality branded steel products to the building and construction markets of India and South Asia.

The facility will manufacture beams, columns, purlins, and other roofing and wall-cladding components for pre-engineered metal buildings and other building solutions.
