Patna, Nov. 9: Super 30 founder Anand Kumar today exhorted youths, especially management graduates, to take up the social sector in a big way.

He was speaking at an interactive session, “Breaking the Myth”, at the 11th edition of the Indian School of Business (ISB) Leadership Summit at its Hyderabad campus.

Anand said in a country like India, which had a high demographic division on the basis of rich and poor, caste, creed and religions, youths must come forward to take over enormous responsibilities and challenges in the social sector. Earlier invited to places including Canada, Japan and Thailand to speak about Super 30 and its impact on socially marginalised sections, Anand said the Indian social sector was waiting for its talented youths to rise to the occasion and give India the much-needed push.

“By 2020, India will become the youngest country, but to make this youthful energy count, the new generation needs to be equipped with the knowledge, skill and wherewithal to pull out of poverty and illiteracy. That is what will give India an edge over others. And for this, talented youth will have to chip in,” he said.

Anand also spoke of Super 30, which has so far sent 281 students from underprivileged families to IIT in the past 12 years. “It gives a sense of accomplishment. And, more importantly, the society gives back much more than what it gets from you,” he said.
