Muzaffarpur Sept. 23: The district police would submit a chargesheet against the doctors responsible for a wrong surgery on a patient at Shri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) in the next two-three days.

The police have so far quizzed three doctors of Dr R.N. Mishra’s operation unit involved in the surgery of Sushila Devi’s gall bladder instead of leg injuries, on September 10.

Muzaffarpur senior superintendent of police (SSP) Rajesh Kumar and the superintendent of police (city) Manoj Kumar interrogated Dr Mishra, Dr Mohammad Quamaruddin and Dr Krishna here today.

Manoj told The Telegraph that Dr H.N. Bhardwaj would also be quizzed in this connection. “Dr Bhardwaj was the overall head of the operation theatre of the SKMCH, where Sushila was admitted,” he said.

Sushila’s husband, Shiv Narayan Prasad, had lodged an FIR against Dr H.N. Bhardwaj on September 11 for incorrectly operating upon his wife, at Ahiyapur police station. The Ahiyapur police have instituted a case under Section 307 of the IPC in this connection.

The police team also quizzed Sushila and Kiran Devi, who was supposed to undergo a gall bladder operation.

Sushila alleged she had showed her leg injuries at the operation theatre and added that she was not supposed to undergo the gall bladder operation.

SKMCH superintendent Dr G.K. Thakur said he minutely investigated the case following instructions from the principal secretary of the health department, Amarjeet Sinha.
