Patna: The body of additional municipal commissioner Uday Krishna (60) was found on the railway tracks near Gulzarbagh station on Wednesday morning.

The track men on duty first noticed the body and informed the government railway police. The body was identified from the Aadhaar card found in a trouser pocket.

No suicide note has been found, and the family has lodged a murder case.

"The body was split in two," said railway superintendent of police (SP) Ashok Kumar Singh. "The body bears injury marks on other parts too, but it is difficult to say whether they were due to the train running over the body. The exact reason behind the death can be ascertained only after the post mortem."

According to Uday's younger brother Abhay Krishna, Uday had left home around 9.30pm on Tuesday after dinner. He had received a call and said that he would return home soon.

When Uday did not return home till 10.30pm, his wife called his mobile number but there was no response. She then called up Abhay, who lives in the Boring Road area. The family members searched for Uday in vain. Around midnight, they lodged a missing person complaint at Patrakar Nagar police station.

The tracks where Uday's body was found are around 2km from Uday's house. His family members are, however, convinced it was murder.

"My brother was not so weak that he would have committed suicide," said Abhay, a lawyer. "We need proper investigation in the case."

Patna additional superintendent of police Sushant Saroj said: "The police will conduct the probe (according to) whatever the victim's family member write in their complaint."

The Bihar Administrative Service Association has written to chief minister Nitish Kumar demanding a high-level investigation. The association has stated that there is a conspiracy behind the death.
