Patna, Sept. 11: A passenger was thrown out of a running train today by a gang of armed criminals near Mohammadpur village under Hisua police station in Nawada district, around 100km from here.
The victim, identified as Vijay Kumar Singh, was travelling on Gaya-Rajgir-Bakhtiyarpur passenger train. He has been admitted to Patna Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition. He has suffered serious injuries in both his legs.
Singh, a resident of Mohavatpur, said he was thrown out of the train by the robbers when he protested against their attempt to loot passengers. His co-passengers were also robbed and thrashed, he said.
Singh said 10-15 armed criminals boarded the train at Sarsu railway station around 8am and went on a looting spree. They robbed the passengers, including some farmers returning from the market.
“When I tried to resist, they threw me in front of another train, which arrived at the Mohammadpur Halt, causing serious injuries to both my legs. I became unconscious after the incident. When I regained consciousness, I found myself in the hospital,” he said.
The dacoits got down from the train at Mohammadpur Halt and escaped with the booty, Singh added.
Nawada deputy superintendent of police said a joint team of Nawada and Gaya police has launched an operation in the bordering areas of the districts to nab the criminals involved in the incident.
