Fun with video games would be doubled in the city as Fun World - a second gaming arcade - is coming up on June 8 at Regent Fun Cinemas, near Gandhi Maidan.

Earlier, the only video game parlour was Timezone at P&M Mall.

Spread over 2,000 square feet, the new parlour will cater to the residents with 24 new games, imported from Australia.

Regent Theatre Private Limited chairman-cum-managing director Suman Kumar Sinha said: "It took me more than four years to convince the Australian company about setting up the parlour and finally the work has started. A four-member team has gone to Calcutta to get acquainted with the video games as it is important to know about this in order to create interest in others."

Regent is turning out to be the most attractive single-screen theatre in the city because of the varied activities on offer. It is the theatre to bring the first KFC to Bihar, on its premises. It had also brought the first Cafe Coffee Day.

Now, the gaming parlour would be an addition to the entertainment list.

"These are next generation games, which you can only find in Mumbai or Bangalore. To start with, 24 games would be installed. They are mostly for young people but there are also some, which kids can play," said Sinha.

Unlike Timezone, where the minimum charges for game playing is Rs 500, the rates of the Fun World starts at Rs 250.

"A card would be made available to people, which they can recharge at the counter. It would be a multipurpose card, which can be used for purchasing movie tickets, playing games and others. The card would be valid for a year," Sinha added.

Talks of validating the card for purchases at KFC and Cafe Coffee Day is also on the cards. This is still under consideration.

Initiatives like these have been introduced in the city over the past few years where children could spend quality time with their parents.

Started in 1929, the theatre was the first to install a 3D projector, the first to introduce Dolby sound. It had also set up D.Cricket Zone on its premises where people can play cricket with the aid of a bowling machine.

Resident of Anandpuri, Nitin Kumar, who runs a shop at Bhattacharya Road, expressed his excitement at the prospect of a new gaming parlour in the city.

"We had limited places for video games and it is really good news for people like me, who love to play games. It sounds really good and the price is less."

Games at Fun World would include Fast N Furious Drift, Terminator, Rambo, Shark Panic, Candy Crane, Street Basket Ball and others. It would also have the latest version of PlayStation.
