Senior RJD leader Raghuvansh Prasad Singh today pilloried Nitish Kumar, saying the Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSCC) exam paper leaked because the chief minister was busy pursuing his one-point agenda - prohibition.
"Nitish's one-point agenda is prohibition," Raghuvansh told The Telegraph over phone from New Delhi. "He has left all other important work and if such things keep happening, people will lose faith in the government."
"Why didn't Nitish learn from the past (Intermediate scam)," Raghuvansh asked. "Because of his one-point agenda. He should've taken strong action but gave such people a free hand. What was his vigilance team doing when such elements were mushrooming under the government's nose?"
He said such incidents lower the morale of meritorious people and also cause humiliation when they go outside, where people assume they must have topped exams by cheating. "And the chief minister is busy praising himself in his Nischay Yatras," Raghuvansh said. "Whenever he visited a district, work is hit as officers have to make arrangements for him."
About Prakash Utsav and the human chain event, Raghuvansh said, just as Nitish took credit for their success, he should also take responsibility for the paper leak. "He has to answer who is Parmeshwar Ram, who is Lalkeshwar Prasad Singh, who is Usha Sinha," Raghuvansh said.
The JDU said Raghuvansh was belittling his own party, as the RJD was part of the government. "We are running a Grand Alliance government and if Raghuvansh takes credit for good work then he must be ready to face the challenges too. Time and again, he tries to belittle his own party and government..." JDU MLC and spokesperson Neeraj Kumar said.
Raghuvansh had earlier accused Nitish of opening a number of liquor shops in the state and then taking credit for implementing prohibition. He had even accused Nitish of weakening the unity of secular forces by projecting himself as the face of the secular front while ignoring the alliance partner.
