Police on Wednesday released the second album comprising pictures of people who had gone on the rampage in Patna during the funeral procession of murdered Ranvir Sena chief Brahmeshwar Singh “Mukhiya”.
Patna senior superintendent of police (SSP) Amrit Raj said a person, Lokesh Singh, who was part of the mob that had resorted to large-scale violence in protest against Brahmeshwar’s murder, surrendered in the city civil court during the day. On Tuesday, two other involved in the violence were arrested.
“The first album that had the pictures of the men indulging in violence was released three days ago. We got help from the local media, which provided us with the pictures. Based on the first album, two persons were arrested on Tuesday. Another person surrendered on Wednesday on his own. The police are on the lookout for many others involved in the violence. We seek people’s support for their identification,” the SSP said.
Sources pointed out that the violence looked pre-planned as one of the pictures showed a person carrying a container apparently filled with an inflammable liquid.
“The ruckus on June 2 looks to be pre-planned. A picture shows one of the men carrying a container apparently filled with something. This shows that the motive of these men was only to create tension and destruction. The violence was not at all a sudden act,” another police officer said.
Patna had witnessed massive violence on June 2 as a huge crowd comprising hundreds of Brahmeshwar’s supporters entered the state capital in a procession and set ablaze many vehicles and a police picket near Punaichak Mor. They had also beaten up many reporters and photo-journalists while proceeding towards Baans Ghat, where the Ranvir Sena chief was cremated in the late evening of June 2.
