Kids can look forward to plenty of new fun things - from waterfalls to ice skating - in city parks.

At Rajdhani Vatika, the environment and forest department is getting a 40ft-high water cascade built, while Hungama World Water and Amusement Park will start an ice-skating rink.

The average footfall of the Rajdhani Vatika is around 60,000 a month. The buzz can be felt more on holidays and festivals.

Recently, it started an open gym for ladies. It is also the only government park where residents can take a water balloon ride.

"The water cascade will be one of the major attractions. The cascade will be ready within one-and-a-half months. The total expenditure on the project is around Rs 25 lakh," said divisional forest officer Mihir Kumar Jha, adding that there will be a hall inside the water cascade.

The department is also renovating a pond. "Earlier, boating used to be organised in the pond. We have shifted the boating activities to another pond. The first pond is being renovated," said Mihir .

Boating activities will resume in the pond after renovation, Mihir said, and the department is also planning to add more swings in the children's section.

"Sound of water cascading down the rock excites me a lot. The forest and environment department should create a water cascade in other parks as well," said Boring Road resident Rita Sahaya, a regular visitor to the park.

Hungama World Water and Amusement Park authorities did say when the ice-skating rink will start.

"Ice skating facility is not available anywhere in Patna. We will be the first to launch this facility. We are trying out models of various companies," said an official.

Vansh, 10, a resident of Shastri Nagar, was upbeat about ice skating.

"Skating training is provided at Eco Park but ice skating is not available anywhere. I always wished for this facility whenever I saw ice skating on TV or heard about it from my cousins who live in other states," said Vansh.
