Mishap injures six kids

Motihari, Oct. 31: At least six students of DAV School sustained injuries when the school bus on way to Pipra was hit by a speeding truck near Chintamanpur on the NH-28 on this afternoon. he condition of one of the students is stated to be serious, said Chakia SDO Kaushal Kishore.

‘Witch’ hunt

Khagaria: A woman panchayat member’s nose was chopped off by five persons who termed her “witch” and beat her up in Khagaria district. Beldar police station SHO Mukesh Kumar Jha said the woman was admitted to a hospital. No one has been arrested.

Suspension

Patna: Bihar State Electricity Board on Wednesday suspended electric superintending engineer Ramashanker Singh and executive engineer Sudhir Kumar of Barauni Thermal Power Station with immediate effect for dereliction of duty, misconduct and indiscipline, board spokesman H.R. Pandey said.

English study

Patna: British Lingua director Birbal Jha said on Wednesday that several initiatives had been taken to train children from backward communities with spoken English under the Spoken English Skills Project, started in collaboration with Bihar Mahadalit Vikas Mission.

Patel birthday

Patna: A function was organised on Wednesday at Patel Chowk to celebrate the 137th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel where chief minister Nitish Kumar put a garland at his statue.

Tribute

Patna: A ceremony was organised on Wednesday on the occasion of the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences where chief minister Nitish Kumar paid his tribute to Gandhi by garlanding her statue.

Oxfam pledge

Patna: Oxfam India, an NGO, on Wednesday launched a project to improve the maternal health of marginalised community in rural Bihar. The project has got the support of Department for International Development under Global Action Poverty Fund.
