Train catches fire

Patna, Sept. 3: The engine of New Delhi-bound Garib Rath Express caught fire near Barahia railway station under Patna-Jhajha section in Bihar on Saturday but a disaster was averted as the driver stopped the locomotive as soon as he spotted the flames. ailway sources said the flames were soon doused by the railway personnel and the damaged engine replaced with another after which the train resumed its journey.

Road block

Patna: An irate mob blocked Bailey Road and disrupted traffic near Khajpura under Patna airport police station on Saturday in protest against death of Guddu Ram, 30, a resident of Shahpur, owing to alleged negligence of doctors of a private nursing home.

Explosion

Banka: A daily wage labourer, Narayan Kumar, a resident of Kaimasar village under Banka police station suffered serious injury on Saturday morning in a bomb explosion.

Arrest

Patna: An assistant sub-inspector of Bihta police station was caught red-handed by sleuths of vigilance investigation bureau on Saturday while taking a bribe of Rs 13,000 from complainant Kishor Kumar of West Champaran district.

Transformer

Patna: Bihar State Electricity Board chairman P.K. Roy reviewed the functioning of seven transformer repair workshops at a meeting with the executive engineers, who happen to be their in-charge, in Patna on Saturday.

Protest

Patna: Thousands of workers of Patna Municipal Corporation on Saturday protested at the corporation office at Maurya Lok in protest of discrimination in payment of pension and other benefits.
