CM shifts home

Patna: Chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi vacated the 12-M Strand Road bungalow and shifted to 1 Aney Marg, the official residence earmarked for the chief minister, on Thursday evening. ormer chief minister Nitish Kumar had vacated the official bungalow on June 5 and had shifted to 2-M Strand Road bungalow.

Dealer killed

Nawada: A public distribution system dealer, Gopal Mishra, was killed and his father was seriously injured when a group of armed men opened fire at Buthaul village in Nawada district late on Thursday night. The residents of the area blocked the Nawada-Jamui road and disrupted traffic for over five hours demanding arrest of the criminals.

Criminal in net

Begusarai: A criminal, Neelu Thakur alias Dharam Thakur, was arrested during a raid at his hideout at Shahpur village on Friday. Thakur was wanted in connection with over a dozen cases of extortion, loot and dacoity.

Virus battle

Gaya: The state health department has provided 25 doctors and good number of ambulances to Gaya to tackle cases of suspected acute encephalitis (AES). Doctors from Jehanabad, Aurangabad, Nawada, Arwal, Bhojpur, Rohtas and Kaimur districts will be posted on deputation at Anugrah Narayan Medical College and Hospital, sadar hospital and primary health centres across the district.

Suspension

Buxar: The district SP has suspended two cops, including SHO of Itarhipolice station Sudhir Kumar, in connection with the assault of the AAP leader and the contestant for the party in the last Lok Sabha election. Police said leader Shweta Pathak was slapped by one of the cops when she had reached to the Itarhi police station last Thursday night.

Petition

Patna: One Ravi Pandey on Thursday filed a complaint petition in the chief judicial magistrate court against Swami Swaroopa Nand Sarswati (Shankracharya of Dwarikapeeth, Gujarat) in connection with controversial statement against follower of Satya Sri Sai Nath Maharaj.

Inmate shift for safety

Patna: Two criminals, Bindu Singh and Ajay Varma, lodged in Beur Central Jail were shifted to Bhagalpur jail. ources said the duo were giving shape to criminal incidents and hence were transferred.

Meat sale rule

Patna: The high court on Friday sought to know from the state government as to when it would approve rules governing sale of meat in the state. The same has been pending approval from the urban development and housing department.

Light scam

Patna: The high court directed the state government to file enquiry reports entailing lodging of FIR and status of the investigation and level of the enquiry initiated in Bhojpur, Buxur and Ara districts in connection with the solar light scam.

Dismissal

Patna: A single bench of Justice J.N. Singh of high court on Friday dismissed an election petition by Lal Das Rai against Ulhas Pandey, an MLC in Bihar State Legislative Council, on the ground that Pandey was declared an absconder by a lower court at the time of filing nominations.

Court order

Patna: A division bench of high court, hearing a PIL filed by Vikas Chandra, into alleged medicine scam at PMCH, directed the petitioner to appear in the office of the special vigilance unit.

Budget plea

Patna: Bihar Chamber of Commerce and Industries has submitted a pre-budget memorandum to Union government for the general budget 2014-15.

Congress pat

Patna: Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee on Friday congratulated chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi for appointing Lalkeshwar Prasad Singh as Bihar School Examination Board chairman.
