Cheques for deluge
Patna: Four MLAs on Monday handed over cheques for flood-hit people to chief minister Nitish Kumar for the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. Hathua MLA Ram Sevak Singh donated Rs 1 lakh, Sultanganj MLA Subodh Rai donated Rs 1 lakh, Valmikinagar MLA Rinku Singh and Jeeradai MLA Ramesh Singh Kushwaha donated Rs 51000 each. MLC Devesh Chandra Thakur also donate Rs 1 lakh to the fund.
Pappu jibe
Patna: Madhepura MP Pappu Yadav on Monday attacked the Nitish Kumar government over relief and rescue work in flood-hit Bihar. Pappu alleged that in the name of rescue and rehabilitation, the officers and contractors were looting public money.
Bridge cheer
Patna: Road construction department minister Nand Kishore Yadav on Monday announced that a Bailey bridge had started functioning in the Seemanchal region of Araria district. The army bridge has built the bridge and will construct three more in Araria and one each in Purnea and Kishanganj for better road communication.
Bank protest
Patna: United Forum of Bank of Bihar Unions on Monday called for a countrywide demonstration against the Centre's decision for merger of public sector banks.
Job drive
Patna: AN College Placement and Guidance Cell on Monday held a campus placement drive for students of every subject. Five companies took part in it and 110 students were shortlisted.
Review
Patna: District magistrate Sanjay Kumar Agarwal on Monday sought report on all damaged roads and small bridges in urban areas in Patna. He also asked about the lanes and bylanes damaged in several localities.
Passport
Patna: Eighty-two applicants took part in a passport adalat organised at Regional Passport Office, Mauryalok complex, on Monday morning. People who had applied for passports at Passport Seva Kendra Patna but didn't receive their passports till date took part in the adalat. All the applications were disposed of expeditiously and most grievances were redressed on the spot.

Patna: Team Smile, a group run by students of Central University of South Bihar, organised a painting competition for financially weak and underprivileged children at the university on Monday.
Merit list
Patna: Mahatma Gandhi Central University, Motihari, on Monday released its third and last merit list for admission in its undergraduate and postgraduate courses on its website www.mgcub.ac.in.
