Motihari, Aug. 21: Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel would soon be equipped with hi-tech communication system.
The Centre has given its nod to equip the jawans with sophisticated gadgets that will help them curb the entry of Nepal Maoists into the Indian territory.
“Soon, all the border outposts in Champaran would be computerised, which would help the SSB to formulate strategies against the Nepali Maoists,” SSB commandant Raj Singh Shekhawat told The Telegraph.
He pointed out that out of total 18 border outposts (BOPs) in the district, eight have been computerised so far, while the remaining 10 would soon get the facility.
“Once the new hi-tech communication system is introduced, the Nepali Maoists would be rendered helpless and they would not be able to assist their Indian counterparts in any way. The department has also come up with other effective strategies against the anti-India subversive elements operating from the other side of the border,” he said.
Shekhawat added: “The SSB jawans stationed on the border will also be equipped with hi-tech defence technology devices and all the BOPs would be directly linked with the satellite communication system. This would be done besides strengthening the wireless network of SSB to man the border in a better and more effective manner.”
The SSB headquarters is also serious about increasing the facilities for the jawans. Besides, the working conditions, permanent arrangement for pure drinking water and a healthy mess facility are also to be kept into consideration, the SSB commandant pointed out.
“We are also serious about a complete ban on the smuggling of firearms, narcotics and fake Indian currencies from Nepal into India,” he said.
Shekhawat, who was felicitated with Indian Police medal by the President of India Pratibha Devi Singh Patil at a function in New Delhi on the eve of 65th Independence Day, expressed his hope that the movement of Nepali Maoists, who are usually behind “every” major operation this side of the border, would be curbed to a great extent once this wing of the Central Para Military Force is equipped with the hi-tech communication system.
