A transgender person, Kajal, 40, was killed allegedly over a love affair in the Alamganj police station area of Patna City sub-division late last night.

The incident came to the fore when a medicine dealer Sarvesh Suman surrendered before the Alamganj police station today and revealed that he had murdered Kajal, who had fallen in love with him around five years ago.

The deceased, a resident of Gur Ki Mandi in Patna City, was allegedly pressuring Sarvesh for money, which prompted him to slit Kajal's throat with a surgery blade.

"I was fed up with Kajal's repeated demand for money. Life had virtually become hell. I had no option but to eliminate her as she was not ready to mend her ways," Sarvesh is learnt to have told interrogators. Kajal came into contact with Sarvesh when the former frequented his medicine shop located at Gaighat. Later, the relationship between the two became intimate, an investigating officer said.

A police officer posted at the Alamganj police station said the body had been sent to Nalanda Medical College and Hospital for a post-mortem. The police seized the blood-stained blade used in the crime<>, he added.

Agitated, members of the transgender community from the Gaighat area stormed the Alamganj police station and shouted slogans against the cops. They had an altercation with the police.

Earlier, the transgenders blocked Ashok Rajpath and disrupted traffic for over three hours. Additional forces were rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control. Senior police officials also reached Alamganj police station and tried to pacify the protesters.

Savita, a member of the transgender community, said: "This is the first incident of murder of any eunuch in the state capital. We want action against the accused as the incident has sent shockwaves among the members of the third gender."

Savita recalled of a similar incident in Delhi in 2012. "So far, Bihar is considered safe for members of the third gender. We demand action to check the re-occurrence of such incidents," Savita added.
