Gopalganj, May 29: District police seem to have developed a cold feet as far as arresting MLA Amrendra Pandey and his family members — named accused in a murder case — is concerned.
Despite several attempts, Gopalganj superintendent of police Nitasha Gudia could not be contacted. But sources said on one hand the police are conducting raids to nab some of the accused, while on the other they are still “investigating” whether the MLA and his family members were actually involved in the murder or not. They plan to take action only after the investigation is complete.
Gopalganj sub-divisional police officer Sanjay Kumar told The Telegraph: “We have not yet sought an arrest warrant against the MLA and his family members. We first want to be sure if Pandey and his family members are involved in the murder case.”
He added: “We will take the next step once we are convinced about their involvement.” Sah was shot at by motorbike-borne criminals at Hathua ITI More at 8.30pm on Saturday. The injured businessman was rushed to Gopalganj sadar hospital, where he succumbed to injuries from six bullets.
An FIR was lodged by Sah’s uncle Subhas Sah against Pandey, JD(U) MLA from Kuchaikot, his father Ramashish Pandey, sister-in-law Urmila Pandey, brother-in-law Jaleshwar Pandey.
Three other persons — Umesh Prasad, Arvind Ojha and Sanjay Pandey were also made accused in the case.
