Gaya, Feb. 10: When Sanjay Dutt’s character in Munna Bhai MBBS cheats his way into a premier medical college, the audience cannot help applauding and laughing. But for six students of Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College (ANMMC), the desire to imitate Munna Bhai has landed them in deep trouble.
ANMMC students — Abhay Anand, Arvind Kumar, Vijay Bhaskar, Saurav Kumar, Prabhat Pawan Kumar and Prabhat Ranjan — had not appeared for the entrance examination. Instead, somewhat inspired from the superhit film, they sent someone else to take their examination.
However, a detailed enquiry conducted by a three-member committee of senior doctors and a forensic laboratory test of their handwriting samples revealed their forgery.
All six students have been expelled and FIRs have been lodged against them at the Magadh Medical police station.
A source said further investigations were being conducted to ascertain if the any more persons were involved in the forgery.
ANMMC principal Sohan Prasad Chaudhury told The Telegraph: “The FIR was lodged after the directions of health department examination controller. The students were expelled on February 5 and FIRs were lodged against them.”
All the students were residing at the college hostel but they have been directed to vacate the rooms immediately, added Chaudhury.
The probe against the student had begun in 2009. Madan Mohan Singh, former ANMMC principal, received a letter from an unidentified person informing him about the forgery.
Singh had constituted a committee of senior doctors to probe into the allegations made in the letter.
The committee confirmed that the hand-writing in the entrance exam answer sheets submitted by the six students was different from the way the six boys wrote.
A forensic test was also carried out to check the had-writing of the students and that, too, confirmed that the answer sheets were written by someone else.
Singh said had also received phone calls threatening him with dire consequences when he initiated the probe against the six students.
Boycott
Final-year MBBS students of ANMMC boycotted Surgery-I paper today alleging that the questions were out of syllabus. Around 50 students were to take the examination.
The Surgery-I paper has been rescheduled for February 14. The Surgery-II paper, which was supposed to be held on that date, will now be rescheduled.
Final examinations of the postgraduate course also began today, said Magadh University examination controller Sushil Kumar Singh.
