Patna: All roads will lead to Gandhi Maidan on Sunday when the human chain against dowry and child marriage originates from the ground and heads in four different directions connecting Patna's adjoining districts.

The district administration has made all possible arrangements at the ground and Patna police have put tight security in place. Traffic would be blocked for five and half hours from 9am to 2.30pm on Sunday.

Traffic would be prohibited on the routes three hours before and two hours after the human chain event from 12 noon to 12.30 pm.

The officials of Creative Imprints, a Patna-based event management firm appointed to make arrangements for the event, were busy giving final touches to the work.

Patna divisional commissioner Anand Kishor and Patna district magistrate (DM) Kumar Ravi also inspected the ground on the eve of the human chain event, which is set to be 588km long. Around15.8 lakh people will be on the road to take part in this human chain, as per a claim made by the district administration.

After inspecting the ground, divisional commissioner Kishor said: "All the preparations for the human chain have been completed and it is going to be a historic day when over 4 crore people will be on the road and joining hands with each other for a noble cause - against dowry and child marriages.

"In Patna alone more than 15 lakh people will be on the roads. All safety measures have been taken and instructions have been issued to the officials concerned not to make any mistake."

It is the duty of sector in-charge, area in-charge, block development officers (BDOs), circle officers (COs), child development programme officers (CDPOs) and coordinator to ensure no unfortunate incidents take place.

As far as arrangements at the main venue are concerned, altogether 42 ambulances will be put in place along with a team of doctor and necessary emergency medicines.

A total 30 water tankers and five fire tenders have been stationed at Gandhi Maidan. That apart, around 35 potable urinals have been set up.

The four gates from where the human chain will originate are gate numbers 1, 5, 7 and 10. Kishor also said that the Patna High Court order forbidding the authorities from forcing anybody to take part in the human chain, has been kept in mind.

Expectedly, children will not be forced to take part in the event and action will be taken against anybody found forcing the children to take part in the human chain event.

Only emergency services like ambulance and milk service will be allowed on the streets during the event. Commercial vehicles are totally prohibited and vehicles have been asked to drive at 20 kmph on the roads opposite the human chain event.
