Patna, July 30: For the public, magic might be an art of entertainment but for Rajesh Fernando, the Guinness records holder, it’s a way to send across the mantra of success.
So Fernando came all the way to SK Memorial Hall from Bangalore to share his experience with thousands of students who had gathered to see and listen the mantra of success in the form of magic. The magic show was organised to educate as well as to entertain the students.
Fernando started the magic show by narrating the childhood story of former President of India APJ Abdul Kalam and how he became an aeronautical engineer and what inspired him.
The magician taught students the lesson of achieving goals in life with three words — dream, dare and do.
“There has to a dream in life and you should have dare to achieve that dream and you have to do everything to achieve that dream. Students you will face plenty of challenges in life but one word shall not exist is fear because fear shatters the dreams.”
He explained the impact of fear by destroying a piece of paper in front of the audience and then he attached it together within a second.
“Fear can destroy the mind, feeling and life so come whatever hurdles and obstacles in life, there should not be any fear and if there will not be any fear your dream will not be destroyed like this paper. So keep fear out of your life and let courage come then you will that dream you will follow you,” Fernando told the students.
Being in the Guinness Book of World Records for having performed the most number of magic shows in 24 hours, he showed his talent today through his performance of over two hours.
He has performed 26 back-to-back magic shows in 24 hours in 2001.
After every magic trick, he gave a message to the students. Fernando poured Black Dog liquor in a glass and asked of the one students to smell it, the student said it stinks: “Any think that stagnates stinks, once it flows freely, it will not,” said Fernando.
Then, while pouring the same liquor in another glass, to the surprise and delight of the students, the liquor turned into plain water. It was an interesting magic trick and everyone had a good laugh.
But this was not magic, he told the students. He said the liquor was a metaphor for knowledge and the illusion to convert it into water was designed to convey the importance of healthy mind.
Speaking to the students regarding the mantra of success through magic, Amna Munaina, a Class VII student of Notre Dame, said: “I really liked the show, especially the four sentences he taught us today — trust the dream, travel with dream, transit the dream and transform the dream. It really inspired me a lot.”
Another student from International School, Sania Haque, from Class XI, said: “I never thought that magic is so important, I have seen magic shows earlier but magic with messages are really thoughtful.”
