Patna, Aug. 26: Newcomers to the bachelor of computer applications department at Magadh Mahila College had a gala time today as their seniors organised a freshers’ day programme on the college campus.

The programme saw an enthusiastic participation from freshers as well as seniors.

The colour code of the event was pink and purple. The venue was decorated with balloons of the same hues. The students, too, wore pink or purple and some even mixed and matched.

Shilpa Kumari, a fresher, said: “It’s wonderful to have a dress code for the event. I also liked the decoration. This has enhanced the mood of our celebration.”

The programme started with a dance on Ganesh Vandana by Simran. Alpana and group, all freshers, sang Dil hai chhota sa from the movie Roja. Thereafter, Archana Singh performed a dance on the track O re piya from the film Aaja Nachle.

A fashion show was also organised for the freshers. Apart from walking the ramp in suits and saris, there was also a question-answer round. The girls introduced themselves in the first round wearing salwar kameez.

In the final round, a number of questions on current affairs and personal views on issues were asked. There was a dance performance by Shruti Priya, followed by another dance by Preeti and group on the track Kajra mohabbatwala from the film Kismat.

Paragti Sudha won the title of Miss Fresher while Monica and Suruchi Verma were declared first and second runners up respectively.

Earlier, Dolly Sinha, the principal of the college, welcomed the newcomers. “I congratulate all the freshers who have been admitted to this college. I wish them all the success in their future,” she said.

The day also witnessed some entertaining performances by the seniors. Taking a break from their regular academic activity, the students turned up in their best attire and make-up. Almost every fresher arrived wearing embroided salwar suits whereas the senior students chose stylish saris.

“I am quite enjoying myself. Today I thought of getting my make-up done by my mother who is a beautician. She helped me out and I know I am looking awesome,” said Anamika, a fresher.

adding that it is the first time she has come to college in such a heavy make-up.

The seniors came in saris, all designer ones. “Today we can wear our best designer saris. On other days, we arrive in college in a very simple manner,” said Rashmi Harsh, a Part -III student.
