Patna, Dec. 3: Home is where the heart is. And, Tejaswi means it.
Deputy chief minister Tejaswi, Lalu Prasad's younger son, promised the electorate in Raghopur that he would build a house and stay there to serve them if voted to the Assembly.
Villagers in the riverine constituency heard the Yadav scion's request. Now, it's payback time for Tejaswi. "I will fulfil the promises which I had made to the people of Raghopur. I am not going to backtrack. I will certainly make a house in my constituency and I am looking for a private plot for this at present," Tejaswi told The Telegraph.
Tejaswi added that he would make a roster for visiting this house every month so that people of his constituency can meet him and share their problems with him. The first-time MLA had made the promise at Terasiya village on September 27 while starting the election campaign along with his father. During the speech, Tejaswi had said he wanted to create a system by which he could directly connect to the people of Raghopur. His promise of building house in Raghopur in Vaishalil district was also mentioned during the speech.
Ever since Tejaswi had taken ministerial charge, he has been talking about his priorities of the three departments which he holds - road construction, building construction and backward classes and extremely backward classes welfare.
This is for the first time Tejaswi shared his priority so far as fulfilling the election promises are concerned. Tejaswi is scheduled to visit Raghopur later this month after the Assemly sessions are over.
After his son winning the election, Lalu had visited Raghopur - his family's electoral citadel for decades except in 2010 when Tejaswi's mother Rabri Devi lost the election - twice to thank the voters. About any specific place where the house can come up, Tejaswi said: "As I said that I am searching for the piece of land and at the same time, I am unable to make up my mind in which block I shall build the house - Bidupur or Raghopur. Bidupur block is cut off because of the river, as my only concern is the convenience of the people who will come to meet me. They should not face any trouble. I will decide the place as well very soon."
Sharing the feature of the house, Tejaswi added: "There would be a proper office where I will sit. A roster would be made with the details about my stay in the constituency. People of Raghopur would have complete details of the timing as well. Everything would be transparent. I will ensure that people of Raghopur need not to visit Patna for any work as I myself would be available for them in their own place."
Political observers feel Tejaswi is trying to change the perception of Lalu's family that they seldom care the people once they taste power. "He is giving a friendly gesture to everyone so that the reputation of the party and family is not tarnished," said a veteran political analyst wishing anonymity.
