Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Patna, will organise a mock parliament to argue the Union government's proposed medical bill on February 17.

The debate will be on the Union government's decision to form the National Medical Commission in place of the Medical Council of India and the induction of IAS officials, not trained in medicine, in the commission.

"Doctors will no longer be able to elect the medical council or contest elections," said Dr Manish Mandal, the organising secretary of the parliament.

Foundation day

Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences also inaugurated its three-day foundation day celebrations at the institute with a fete and fashion show on Friday.
