Patna, Sept. 16: Doctors at Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH) today issued order for the transfer of the Jamshedpur-based businessman shot by an unidentified man near Agamkuan flyover last evening to Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) with the bullet still lodged in his left leg.
To add to his agony, he had to wait for two hours at PMCH without any treatment, apparently because the doctors were busy in a conference, before being forced to head home to Jamshedpur.
At PMCH, the businessman, Prashant Kumar (38), and Lakhu Bhai Soni, his father-in-law, who had rushed from Jamshedpur after the attack, waited long for an orthopaedic to attend on his fractured leg.
With doctors in the orthopaedic department apparently busy in a conference, the wait proved futile for the duo, who, at last lost hope and returned to Jamshedpur for the basic treatment.
Prashant was looted of Rs 10 lakh at Agamkuan last evening. The police, who have not been able to make any breakthrough in the case yet, have doubts after the victim and his father-in-law gave conflicting statements, sources said.
“I have been transferred to PMCH but there are no doctors to attend me. Doctors at NMCH put a cast on my leg but I got to know the bullet is still lodged and it needs a surgery. Here, the doctors said some conference is on. Two hours have passed but no doctor has attended on me,” Prashant said. Around 2pm, Soni somehow arranged for an ambulance and left for Jamshedpur with Prashant. “The PMCH authorities suggested them to go to a private nursing home. Ultimately, they decided to get back home,” a family friend of Prashant said.
