The Indian diaspora will honour Super 30 founder Anand Kumar in Moscow on July 29 for helping poor students crack the IIT entrance exam.
The Overseas Bihar Association, a non-commercial socio-cultural organisation of Indians in Russia, will organise a concert where singers Sona Mohapatra and Neeraj Shridhar will perform.
Anand said the event was being organised with the support of the Indian embassy in Moscow and the concert was dedicated to 70 years of the establishment of diplomatic ties between India and Russia. Indian ambassador to Russia Pankaj Saran will be the chief guest at the event. Other dignitaries who will attend the event include ambassadors of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Mauritius, Nepal and other countries.
Mukesh Kumar, one of the organisers, said: "What Anand has done is an inspiration for many across the globe and felicitating him will be an honour. Providing free food, stay and mentoring to the students and making them reach IIT is a big thing and requires amazing dedication. He has been doing it for 15 years with a phenomenal success rate."
Expressing happiness over the gesture of OBA for inviting him, Anand said: "One feels good when one's effort is praised by others. It is really good that the achievement of my students, who come from weaker sections of society, is drawing attention not only in India but also those living beyond the borders."
