Gaya: District magistrate (DM) Kumar Ravi has directed installation of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras at all government hospitals to ensure that doctors and the nurses join duty on time.
The DM himself will monitor CCTV footage of hospitals.
Ravi passed the direction following complaints that doctors and nurses either arrive late or skip duty on many occasions. At the monthly review meeting of the District Health Society, the DM expressed dissatisfaction on the progress of child immunisation in Tekari, Gurua, Konch and Amas blocks of a total of 24 blocks.
In Tekari, 76 per cent coverage of child immunisation was reported at the meeting, while Amas got 78 per cent coverage in Hepatitis birth dose. The DM directed that immunisation coverage must not be less than 90 per cent. He directed that auxiliary nurse midwives not performing well in Tekari be suspended and a report be submitted in two days.
The DM expressed dissatisfaction about the coverage of ante-natal check-up. There are many houses in the tolas of different villages, which have not been registered for ante-natal check-up. ANC is the check-up of pregnant women carried out before delivery of baby. He directed that registration of cent per cent houses for ANC must be ensured.
The DM directed the Guraru circle officer to submit a report regarding land availability in the block to build a hospital building for institutional delivery. He directed that best possible service be offered and delivery in government hospitals be encouraged. He ordered suspension of a day's salary of health managers in Fatehpur and Mohra blocks for dereliction of duty and presence at the review meeting without progress report of their respective blocks.
