The state water resources department on Tuesday issued a high alert to all its employees working to prevent floods.
The alert was issued after a review meeting attended by minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary and principal secretary Afzal Amanullah. Employees engaged in flood fighting work were asked to maintain round-the-clock vigil on river embankments and leave no stone unturned to prevent breaches.
A source said heavy rain in the catchments areas had led to an increase in the water level of many rivers. Bagmati, Ganga and Sone were flowing above danger level.
