Chhapra, June 27: Jai Prakash University registrar Vijay Pratap Kumar has finally lodged an FIR against the principal of Ganga Singh College, K.P. Srivastav, his wife Surbhi Priya and then observer Saroj Kumar Verma.

Kumar lodged the FIR with the Chhapra police station under sections 34, 467, 488, 471 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code.

District magistrate (DM) Vinay Kumar instructed the registrar to lodge the FIR against the three persons for the second time on June 24. He said the university’s plea of getting the handwriting of Surbhi Priya tested by some expert and putting the matter before the examination board, are “dilly-dallying tactics”.

The DM said it is the responsibility of the police to lodge the FIR and not of the examination department. He said the FIR can be lodged after the information of any cognisable offence and other things may be done during the investigation of the case, if required.

After getting this reply, the registrar finally lodged the FIR with Chhapra Town police on Sunday evening.

Srivastav was allegedly the centre superintendent of the college when his wife Surbhi appeared for her postgraduate examination in psychology. Moreover, he also allegedly allowed someone else to appear for the examination on his wife’s behalf in some papers.

The university formed an inquiry committee to look into the issue but the matter was later hushed up.

One Atul Kumar wrote to state vigilance department after which the vigilance department entrusted the DM the job to look into the matter.

The DM then wrote to the controller of examination G. Arya. A committee was again formed and the allegations were found to true. The DM then instructed to lodge an FIR.
