A bicycle brand will organise a rally in the city on Saturday to spread the message of health and a pollution-free environment.

Food and consumer protection minister Shyam Rajak will flag off Avon CycloGreen, the rally organised by Avon Cycles, from the Maurya Lok Complex at 9am.

The bicycle company has been organising the event across the country since 2010 to spread the message of a green and better environment. Coming to Patna for the first time, the company would organise Avon CycloGreen for the 47th time.

Kulbir Singh, head, marketing, Bihar, said on Wednesday: “A cycle rally would be organised on October 19. Around 300 people are expected to take part in it. The rally, which would convey the message of no pollution, will conclude at Gandhi Maidan. Bicycles do not need petrol, so if more people opt for cycling, it would convey the message of green environment. It is good for health too. The chief minister’s scheme of distributing bicycles among girls would also be promoted through this rally.”

People interested to take part in the rally can get forms from Avon Cycles shops, register on the website of Avon Cycles and/or reach Maurya Lok Complex on Saturday at 8am.

Vishwamohan, assistant manager, sales, Bihar and Jharkhand said: “Forms to participate in the rally are available at the Avon Cycles shops. The rally would terminate at Gandhi Maidan where a national cycle trade fair will be organised. Companies from across the country will set up at least 54 stalls at the trade fair.”

Harish Ahuja, manager, marketing, India, said: “As far as export is concerned, Avon Cycles is in the first position. It exports products to 85 countries and has more than 125 models. An e-bike that runs on electricity has also been launched.”
