Patna: A 17-year old boy was found hanging from the ceiling of his room, bolted from inside, in Phulwarisharif on Sunday.
The victim, an Intermediate student at Phulwarisharif has been identified as Anzar Imam Khan, alias Raja. His father, Manzar Imam Khan, is posted as assistant sub-inspector in Patna traffic police.
"On Sunday morning, when the mother knocked the door of Anzar Imam Khan, there was no response. The family members broke open the door to discover Anzar hanging in the room," said station house officer (SHO) of Phulwarisharif police station Ajit Kumar.
The police have not found any suicide note but they claimed that the boy was suffering from depression. After post-mortem of the body, the family members left for Siwan with it to performing Manzar's last rites. Neighbours claimed that Anzar was under depression for past few days. The boy had demanded a motorbike from his father. However, the officer, with limited salary, was not in position to fulfil his son's demand.
Anzar was the youngest son of Manzar and three of his daughters are married. The ASI, along with his wife and son, stayed on rent in Naya Tola. Neighbours claimed that on several occasions, they had heard arguments in family over financial issues.
"The traffic ASI was inconsolable. Police have not questioned the family members much about knowing the reason behind the suicide," said SHO Ajit Kumar.
"We have observed that there are three major reasons behind youngsters committing suicide - examination stress and pressure, love affair and disturbed family background," said clinical psychologist Brinda Singh.
Singh claimed that such highly emotional and sensitive people must be given extra care as they fall to depression on failing to meet their expectations in life.
