Patna, Jan. 4: The drop in temperature has pushed up the sales of heaters and blowers in the state capital. The sale has increased manifold in the last one week, say shopkeepers.
Another gadget that is in demand in the cold wave-hit capital is immersion rod.
Local-made immersion rods are selling more as they are cheaper and easily available.
Sonu, a shopkeeper from Chandni Chowk, said: “Due to the fall in temperature and cold wave, we are doing brisk business. Halogen heaters and heat blowers are in demand. Demand is more for halogen heaters as they are energy efficient. Halogen heaters consume 400 watts of electricity per tube whereas heat blowers consume 2,000 watts.”
Sonu further said: “Till last week, the daily sale of halogen heaters and heat blowers together was around 20. Now with the fall in temperature, the sales have shot up and we are selling around 300 heaters every day.”
Another shopkeeper, Vikas Agrawal, said: “The sale has of course gone up. We are getting more customers now.”
Amit, a shopkeeper, said: “I am getting maximum demand for immersion rods. Local ones are more popular. Their range starts from Rs 180 and goes up to Rs 300. The branded ones are a bit costlier. People want the local ones as they are cheaper and also come with a one year guarantee.”
Ashok Kumar, who was busy buying a halogen heater, said: “I buying a halogen heater for myself and an immersion rod for a friend. He has asked me to buy it for him. Halogen heater is convenient for me because with a family of around six people, it’s easier to use it. It consumes less power, therefore, I am not worried about electricity bills.”
