Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has drafted a three-member team to look into a question paper leak of the CBSE Class X school-based examination, known as Summative Assessment-2.
An FIR in this regard was by the Sangathan on Friday. The Sangathan controls the functioning of Kendriya Vidyalayas. The panel would be headed by Sangathan deputy commissioner (Patna) M.S. Chouhan. The panel would also have officials U.N. Kaware and S.K. Verma as its members. It would look into the leak of papers of Hindi, Sanskrit and social science.
The examination dates, too, have been rescheduled as a precautionary measure.
News regarding the paper leak came to the fore on March 23 the day Hindi and Sanskrit exams were scheduled.
"We have decided to reschedule all the examinations as a precautionary measure as we don't know whether question papers of other subjects have been leaked or not," said Chouhan, who is heading the inquiry committee.
According to the new schedule for the examination, the Hindi and Sanskrit papers would be held on March 30, while that of social science would be held on April 1. The examination for mathematics, science and English would be held on April 6, 8 and 10, respectively. Sharing the scope of work of the inquiry committee, Chouhan said: "The committee would probe the matter and determine the source of the leak. If the probe concludes that other papers have also been leaked than we may order re-examination of mathematics, science and the English paper as well."
He, however, maintained that no timeframe had been decided to complete the inquiry. The decision has affected 31 central schools across the state that conducts the Class X examinations.
The change in the examination schedule has left many students dejected. Parth Kumar, a student of a central school, said: "My family had planned to visit Delhi and advance tickets for April 2 had been booked. But the sudden announcement of the rescheduling of exams has come as a shock because my plans have gone awry. Why should all students suffer owing to a mistake by some people and the carelessness of the school?"
Another student Nupur Verma said: "The sudden change in the examination schedule has hit my post-examination plans."
CBSE had introduced Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation from the 2009-10 academic session, under which four formative assessments and two summative assessments are supposed to be conducted every year.?
