• Patna: BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi on Sunday wrote to the chairman of the State Environment Impact Assessment Authority, urging him to stop the construction of a mall near Saguna Mor that is coming up on land owned by a firm in which RJD chief Lalu Prasad's family members are stakeholders.
Book launch
• Motihari: Union agriculture minister Radha Mohan Singh on Sunday released two books - Champaran Satyagraha: A Socio-Political Crucible and Champaran Satyagraha: Mahatma Ki Pratham Aahuti - at an event organised by Mahatma Gandhi Central University, Motihari.
Fire safety
• Patna: The state fire services, in association with the Bihar State Disaster Management Authority, organised a run on Sunday for generating fire safety awareness.

• Patna: BJP leader Nand Kumar Yadav accused the Nitish Kumar government of not being able to do the necessary construction works in the district courts.
Minister visit put off
• Patna: Railway minister Suresh Prabhu's visit to Chhapra on April 17 has been cancelled. Prabhu was scheduled to visit Chhapra via Patna to inaugurate several railway projects and lay the foundation stone of some other projects, including wi-fi service at Chhapra railway station.
East Central Railway chief public relations officer Arvind Kumar Rajak said due to unavoidable reasons he will not be able to come Patna. However the programme will be carried out as per the earlier schedule in the presence of ECR general manager D.K. Gayen.
Cancer care
• Patna: The Mahavir Mandir Trust has decided to create a hospital for last-stage cancer patients in the current financial year. In another decision, the trust will create two dharamshalas (accommodation facility) for cancer patients apart from providing free treatment facilities to patients up to 18 years of age, according toa press release issued by the trust on Sunday.
Doc plea
• Patna: The Bihar Health Services Association (BHSA) on Sunday demanded the dynamic assured career progression scheme benefit for doctors. The association alleged that despite being approved by the government eight years ago, the scheme was not implemented in the health sector. In other demands, the association also asked the government to fill up vacant posts of doctors in the government health set-up.
Feast
• Patna: The Lions Club of Patna Anthem organised a feast for the students of Sant Pashupati Nath Ved Vidyalaya on Sunday. Members of the club who were present on the occasion included president of the club Karuna Lal and members including Anupama Singhania, Amitabh Choudhary and Manohar Singh.
