Rural growth meet

Patna: Nabard chief general manager Ranjit Kumar Das inaugurated a two-day bimonthly meeting of the district development managers at Simultala in Jamui district on Friday to showcase the institution's contribution to rural development. He emphasised the role of agricultural term lending and the need to enhance farm credit.

Various stalls showcasing Nabard-sponsored projects on watershed development, waste area development, rural innovation projects, farmers' club programme and other schemes have been put up for the event.

Charges

Patna: Purnea police have initiated proceedings to book Awadesh Mandal, Rupauli JDU MLA Bima Bharti's husband, under sections of the Crime Control Act. Mandal had escaped from police lock-up after being detained.

Missing

Darbhanga: A student of Women's Institute of Technology, Darbhanga, is missing since Thursday. The director of the residential institution, Prabhavati, lodged an FIR at University police station late in the night on Thursday.

Pension court

Patna: A pension adalat was held in Patna for retired employees of the Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited and its four subsidiary companies. A total of 231 applications were received of which 170 were disposed of with orders to pay an amount of Rs 34 crore to the persons concerned. The energy department has decided to organise such adalats every three months.

Patna: Senior BJP leader Nand Kishore Yadav on Friday said none of Bihar's cities figured in the list of 20 smart cities announced on Thursday because of the government officials' negligent and lackadaisical attitude.
