Report in court
Patna: The district administration and Patna Municipal Corporation on Tuesday submitted a report in the high court on the khatals (cowsheds) removed from areas under the civic body.
The state counsel on Tuesday informed the court that the cowsheds have been removed from Shastri Nagar and Bankipore localities. The court directed the station house officers of areas from where cowsheds still have to be removed to provide all relevant details to the senior superintendent of police.
Jawan order
Patna: The high court on Tuesday directed the government to re-assess the 2009 recruitment process of homeguard jawans. There were 4,698 vacancies in 2009 for which the process was initiated but could not be completed. The court directed the government to re-assess the recruitments based on the 2009 advertisement in four months.
Graft arrest
Patna: The vigilance bureau arrested a sub-inspector, Akhilesh Ram, from Saharsa on Tuesday for allegedly accepting Rs 5,000 as bribe. In another operation, Om Prakash Narayan Singh, a block education officer of Vayasi in Purnea district, was arrested on a similar charge.
Green cover
Patna: Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences director N.R. Biswas on Tuesday underlined the importance of maintaining ecology and increasing the state’s green cover at a function on the premises of DAV-IGIMS.

Chain snatch
l Patna: Kalyani Devi, a 60-year-old resident of Vijay Nagar, was robbed of her gold chain on Tuesday morning by criminals on motorbike. She was on her way back home after morning walk when the men snatched her chain. They are yet to be arrested.
