Court seeks reply on crematoriums

Patna: The division bench of Patna High Court comprising Justice Navin Sinha and Justice Vikas Jain on Monday directed the chief secretary and the secretary, urban development and housing department, to file a counter-affidavit on November 29 in a case related to functioning of the electric crematoriums in Bihar.

The court has sought to know why the electric crematoriums in the state were non-functional and what steps have been taken to correct the situation.

Flight schedule

Patna: Spirit Air has introduced two daily flights between Jamshedpur and Calcutta, one daily flight between Jamshedpur and Ranchi and thrice-a-week flights between Jamshedpur and Patna and Ranchi and Patna. A Spirit Air press note on Monday said the flights would start from October 17. The airline is also offering online ticket booking facility which can be availed on www.dtdsindia.com.

Canal repair

Patna: The water resources department has sanctioned a fund of Rs 1.9 crore for repairing the Belharna canal. An official press note on Monday said the project would be executed under the supervision of the chief engineer of Bhagalpur. The work is expected to be completed by March 2015.

Drama awards

Patna: Students of St Karen’s High School exhibited their acting skills in an inter-house drama competition organised by the institution on Monday. The “Blue House” won the best play award in the English category, while the “Green House” won in the Hindi category.

Dandiya

Patna: Shalini Singh was adjudged the best dancer in a dandiya programme organised by the Inner Wheel Club of Patliputra.

Mock test

Patna: Candidates studying for engineering and medical entrance examinations can judge their preparedness using the test series of Pace-IIT and medical test series starting from October 19.

 

Nomination

Patna: Dr Diwakar Tejaswi, the medical director of Public Awareness for Healthful Approach for Living, has been nominated as a member of the board of directors of International Union against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease.
