Twin murder cases

Chhapra: One Roshan Singh (25) of Hariharpur panchayat was shot dead early on Sunday morning while he was returning home after performing Chhath. The father of the deceased, in a statement to the police, alleged that Sunita Devi, mukhiya of Bhusav panchayat and three others killed his son.

In another incident, one Urmila Devi (40) was stabbed to death at Azad Nagar mohalla on Sunday. Police said Urmila belonged to Kopa village but was staying at Azad Nagar mohalla for the past 10 years, after abandoning her husband. Two persons, who were living with her, are absconding.

New Delhi (PTI): About 8,000 children and more than 700 pregnant women have died at Patna Medical College hospital in the past five years, chairman, child care department, said in response to an RTI query.

CBI remand

Patna: The CBI plans to take arrested gangster Shankar Dayal Singh, alias Fauji, on remand for interrogation in connection with the murder of former Ranvir Sena chief, Brahmeshwar Singh Mukhiya. He was gunned down at Katira in Ara on June 1, 2012.

Kids drown

Motihari: At least three children of Malahi village drowned and one suffered injuries while taking bath in the Gandak river on Sunday.

Man shot at

Motihari: One Anil Singh suffered serious head injuries when two motorcycle-borne criminals fired at him from close range at Madhubani village on Sunday morning. Singh is the husband of Neelam Devi, a mukhiya of Madhubani panchayat.
