Muzaffarpur Town BJP MLA Suresh Sharma was quizzed by police on Sunday after a woman lodged an FIR accusing him of attacking her with an iron rod and trying to outrage her modesty.
Kiran Kumar (30), lodged the FIR at Kazi Mohammadpur police station.
The cops allowed the MLA to go and said investigations were being conducted. Kiran, a resident of Gannipur, has claimed she suffered head injuries when the
MLA attacked her in the presence of some his henchmen and bodyguards. She has also accused some unknown persons for the attack in the FIR.
Kiran said: “The MLA became furious when I went to meet him on Sunday morning to help my husband Dharmendra Kumar Singh. On behest of the MLA, my husband sold his paternal property and gave Rs 35 lakh to one Sanjay Kumar of Uttar Pradesh with the assurance that the money would be returned soon. When Sanjay started
avoiding us, my husband went to meet the MLA but his men threw him out. Today, when I went to remind him of the money, he misbehaved and attacked me with an iron rod.”
She added: “I was rushed to a local hospital where doctors treated me and advised a CT scan in a day or two to detect any internal injury.” The doctor had advised her “bed rest”, Kiran said.
She evaded questions as to why they gave the money on the recommendation of the MLA.
“My husband and I worked hard for the MLA during the Assembly elections,” she said.
The MLA claimed it was a conspiracy by his political opponents.
“People of the town know me very well. No one would believe the allegations levelled against me,” he said.
On the status of police investigation in the case against the lawmaker, Muzaffarpur senior superintendent of police Ranjit Kumar Mishra said a probe was on and police would initiate further steps.
