Around 350 Grade IV employees of Bihar State Power (Holding) Company Ltd have threatened to go on an indefinite strike from April 1 if their demands, including promotion, are ignored.

Bihar Jharkhand Rajya Vidyut Parishad Field Kamgar Union general secretary Amarendra Prasad Mishra, said they would hold a demonstration on March 20 to press for their demands.

The employees also claimed that they have the required qualification to become Grade III employees and have been discharging the duties for several years.

One of the employees, who did not want to be identified, said: “According to the Sixth Pay Commission, the Grade IV employees with graduation degrees, should get promoted to the post of clerk or equivalent level. I have been working here since 2008 as a Grade IV employee. Apart from getting water and files, I also take dictation and know how to use the computer.”

The government ordered the power holding company to take action in the matter.
