Aerial route to stop power theft

Patna, Nov. 3: Bihar State Power (holding) Company Ltd has proposed appointment of an agency for the laying of aerial bunched cables to check hooking and frequent snapping of cables during the rainy season.

The company has invited bids from interested firms to lay the cables that would be covered with rubber or plastic. The tender was floated on October 26 and the last date of submission is November 30.

The technical bid would be opened in the second half of the same day, whereas the date for opening financial bids would be notified later.

The company would organise a pre-bid conference on November 16 to clear doubts and queries of the bidders.

“We have invited tenders for strengthening and modernising the distribution network to provide unhindered power supply in Patna. A whole lot of things have to done, including installation of aerial bunched cable on the lines of big cities like Delhi and Mumbai,” Vinayak Chandra Gupta, the director of Bihar State Power (holding) Company Ltd, told The Telegraph.

“The strengthening work would be carried out under the Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme of the power ministry,” the director added.

There are plenty of works that the selected agency would have to do, including renovation and modernisation of selected existing 33/11KV power sub-station, augmentation of power transformer capacity from 5MVA to 10MVA, installation of new 33KV & 11KV feeders, augmentation of existing distribution transformer capacities, AB Switch etc.
